This was also my year again to rediscover books and to enjoy them in a way I had not had the chance to do in a long time. I could have read "Pleasure" by Eric Jerome Dickey in less than 3 days. But the real understanding came from really researching the characters and their lives. If a particular artist or song was mentioned in a chapter, I took the time to find the music online and listen for awhile to capture the rhythms and moods before moving on and reading again. His character's homage to Anais Nin made me break and find my boxed away copies of her novels that I've possessed for more than a decade. Plans to rewatch Henry and June is still on my short list of things to watch while I'm in the hospital or recovering. And Pleasure, due to all my side wanderings, took me almost 2 weeks to "read" and it was glorious. So my reading for fun has given way to reading for immersion. Hmmm..time might be right to go back to Galileo's Daughter after all these years.

Thank you for the intellectual stimulation, my friend. I will attempt to join you on the challenge. Work has me reading 'til I'm blue in the face, but doesn't fill my inner void for a real literary meal. So inspiring! I think I'll finish the Indonesia section of EAT, PRAY, LOVE before it's released! On to the mental workout. I'm in!

LOVE IT!! This is great. I just put all of the books (some pleasure and some business related) in a stack to take back to the library tomorrow. Not to mention the many I've bought from Target & B&N recently. I figured I'd get through the DVR (currently at 95%) and then get back to reading. Maybe I will ask if I can renew Oscar Wao for the 3rd time. Thanks for the intellectual challenge. :)

LOVE this posting! I keep telling myself I don't have time to read (for pleasure - job keeps me busy reading) but I think I will make a commitment. Going to start with the End to Overeating. I still have to work on the TV consumption, though...
